Maguire was not involved with the striker set to have an operation this week after picking up a serious hamstring injury.

He is set to be on the sidelines for three to four months according to boss Alex Neil.

Maguire and O’Connor were key in helping Cork to the title, the former’s 20 goals enough to see him end the season as the Premier Division’s top scorer despite leaving the club for Preston in July.

After the dramatic win on Sunday, boss John Caulfield invited the North End duo to go and celebrate with the City fans on the pitch.

Twelve months earlier, Maguire had scored the winner in the final when Cork beat Dundalk 1-0 after extra-time.
