He has signed a two-year contract with the Bantams and is their replacement for Charlie Wyke who is joining Sunderland.

The 30-year-old's exit ends a somewhat unproductive time at Deepdale, one which will be probably be best remembered for his on-field bust-up with team-mate Jermaine Beckford in a game against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Both players were red-carded for that incident in December 2016 and Doyle played only two competitive games in a Preston shirt after that.

Dublin-born Doyle first joined North End in September 2015 on a season-long loan from Cardiff City.

That campaign he scored four goals in 15 league starts and 13 appearances from the bench.

Doyle signed permanently for PNE in July 2016 but first-team football was limited.

His only goal ironically came at Sheffield Wednesday, just a few minutes before he clashed with Beckford.

He finished that season on loan at Portsmouth and then last season had two loan spells with Oldham - interrupted by a spell on the sidelines because of a blood clot.

Doyle scored 16 times for Oldham in League One and his record at that level - he scored 25 in half a season for Chesterfield in 2014/15 - has clearly attracted Bradford's attention.

Earlier this summer, he turned down moves to Peterborough United and Aberdeen after failing to agree personal terms.
