The draw for the Carabao Cup first round will take place next Tuesday (August 18) with games scheduled to take place on September 5.
However, that falls during an international break and the EFL say 'alternative' dates are available.
An alternative could well be Saturday, August 29, that previously suggested as a date for ties involving Championship clubs.
The first round draw will be regionalised but not seeded.
Rounds two, three and four of the Carabao Cup will be played in successive midweeks starting on September 15/16.
This season's semi-finals will be one leg instead of the usual two-legged affairs.
