North End get one of their toughest away trips of the season out the way early this weekend, heading to East Anglia to take on Norwich City.

The Canaries are fancied to go straight back up again this season and pinched a 1-0 win at Huddersfield last week.

They didn’t look anything special though they still won, which is what sides that do end up getting promoted tend to do.

Preston will need to be on their ‘A’ game and I still feel Alex Neil has some tinkering to do, to find his best XI.

I have a feeling they could leave with something, though, and the draw at 11/4 looks quite big, whilst the 1-1 draw is widely available at 6/1 and looks tempting.

If you like a first goalscorer, Scott Sinclair could easily oblige, and I am surprised to see him in double digits at 10/1.

I am sure we will agree how nice it is to have a proper set of fixtures on a Saturday again. This weekend’s lunchtime kick off sees newly promoted West Bromwich
Albion travel to Goodison Park, to take on an Everton side with a bit of a buzz about them for the first time in a while.

The Baggies were very poor at home to Leicester on Sunday, with no outlet up front and a lot to work on at the back.

I really fancy Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees to get their home campaign off to the perfect start and even at ½ it has got to go in my weekend treble.

Another side I really fancy to start their home campaign off with a win is Arsenal in their London derby with neighbours West Ham United.

The Gunners look much improved all the time under manager Mikel Arteta and with Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang’s new contract sorted, they could easily put the Hammers to the sword.

David Moyes could have his work cut out this season again and they can’t expect much this weekend.

Again it is another short price at ½ though
with a bigger price to
come, we can afford to play safe.

To complete the treble this weekend, I am
backing Steve Bruce’s
Newcastle United to make it three from three this
season in all competitions and beat Brighton up at St James’ Park.

They played some nice football in their win at West Ham last weekend and Bruce will ask for more of the same.

They look a decent price at 7/4 and that gives the treble a nice boost, returning odds of around 5/1.

So here’s hoping we
can get the new football
season started in style with that trio of tips.

It’s the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury this weekend and BAHRAIN PRIDE looks like a smart two year old with every chance.

Trained by Simon Crisford and with top jockey James Doyle booked for the ride, the 5/1 is very tempting.

I liked the way he won
his race at Ripon last time out and should improve
further.
