A week has made a big difference - Preston fan Tim Mercer believes there is still hope for a top-six finish

What a difference seven days can make!  At last North End seem to have their mojo back with much improved performances over these last two games as witnessed in the away victory midweek and in this match against a tough opposition in the shape of Nottingham Forest.

What a shame we conceded a rather soft penalty in the opening five minutes, as Ben Pearson ran unnecessarily into a Forest forward. However, unlike the hangover suffered since the season re-started, this team has finally remembered how to be more upfront and aggressive and got themselves back in the game within quarter of an hour with a well-taken second goal in two games by Jayden Stockley.

Maybe Stockley has now adapted to the higher level and can really find his feet and make an impact in the seasons to come.

He was ably assisted by a good quality cross from Brad Potts who has rediscovered the kind of form he only really showed in the matches when he first arrival at Deepdale.

Along with the return of Joe Rafferty and Ryan Ledson, who have also been in good form, it might just be that the crafty signings from the lower leagues are now beginning to bear fruit and let’s not forget Jorden Storey’s contribution in these last two games, albeit as a substitute here for the injured Ben Davies.

As for the rest of match, in my view PNE edged it and could count themselves a wee bit unlucky not to score on at least two more occasions as the visitors’ backline made some quality last-ditch blocks and tackles to deny and frustrate us all in equal measure on yet more glitching and lagging on the iFollow platform.

I had to laugh out loud at halftime when a warning came on screen about not being allowed to stream the feed in public places like pubs and clubs.

Really? There is no chance I’ll be taking my laptop down to my local anytime soon. So, a win is now needed away at in-form Brentford midweek.
