The Lilywhites rattled the net four times in 18 minutes in the second half after being 2-0 down at the interval.
Scott Sinclair’s two goals came from crosses from opposite wings.

The fourth goal from Sean Maguire came from a corner.
Having scored just twice in the league up until Sunday, with one of those being a penalty, to rattle in four was so pleasing for North End manager Neil.
It was a step-up too from the first half when they had plenty of the ball in good areas but rarely looked like scoring.
Neil said: “They were all good goals and came about in different ways which was very pleasing.

“We ‘played’ but it was one of those ones where you looked at it and thought were we really going to score?
“The second half was so much better, once we got that first goal you could see the urgency and belief come into the the team.”
Neil felt the ‘aggressive’ way his side pushed on from reducing the deficit and cut through the Brentford defence was how he wants his side to play.

Said Neil: “My teams are really aggressive to start with in terms of how they go after sides.
“If we find ourselves losing as we did at Brentford, you have to go and be doubly aggressive.
“We did that in the second half and we saw how it worked.
“When you do go and be aggressive like that, against the best sides you do risk leaving gaps and being hurt.

Sunday’s win was done without Daniel Johnson and Tom Barkhuizen who scored 21 league goals between them last season.
Sinclair’s double puts him as PNE’s top Championship scorer with three goals.
Potts and Maguire were on target for the first time in the league, although Maguire scored in the Carabao Cup win over Mansfield in August.
