That is the verdict of Phil Brown who is manager at Shawbridge and also works in the education sector within North End’s academy.

In recent weeks Brown has taken Jack Baxter, Tyrhys Dolan and Lincoln McFayden on loan to the NPL side.

Baxter is a first-year pro at North End, with Dolan and McFayden currently in the second year of their scholarships at Deepdale.

The latter two featured in PNE Under-18s’ run to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup recently.

Dolan has scored twice for Clitheroe in his stay there, the latest in their 4-0 victory at Droylsden last Saturday.

For now, the trio are in the same boat as everyone in football with matches suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Clitheroe boss Brown told the Lancashire Post: “We took Jack Baxter first and he did really well.

“He is a fit lad, a very good player but hadn’t played a lot of competitive senior football before coming here.

“Jack has taken to it like a duck to water, he’s shown his quality and put in some good performances.

“He got a kick on the knee in our game at Workington which meant he missed the last couple of games.

“The physios back at PNE are looking after him and say it is nothing major.”

Dolan looked a livewire in the Youth Cup games and has taken that form into his loan spell.

Said Brown: “Tyrhys hit the ground running and has done very well.

“He’s shown the attributes he has got, is full of energy and is progressing well.

“At Droylsden he got the man of the match award and he’s scored twice now.

“We took Lincoln at the same time and he got an injury at the end of his second game – he rolled his ankle.

“Again he did well in those games, his one-on-one defending was very good.

“I saw a lot of all three lads in my role on the education side of things at PNE and I know the values the club instil in their young players.”
