Three successive Deepdale defeats for Preston North End frustrates Alex Neil

Sunday lunchtime's 1-0 defeat to Cardiff City mirrored the results against Swansea and Stoke on home turf this season.

Away from home, they've taken four points and scored six goals, a pattern having emerged in their early-season results.

Sheyi Ojo's 52nd minute goal won it for the Bluebirds, the Liverpool loanee finishing off a counter-attack with quality finish.

North End manager Neil said: "We have lost three games 1-0 at home which is frustrating

"In the Stoke game we had the sending-off but even with 10 men you would say that we gave it a good go.

"If you look at the Swansea game and this one today, there was very little in the matches.

"When you play poorly and the opposition are far better than you, it is easier to accept.

"The issue here is that we haven't scored at home and we know that goals brings confidence.

"We scored four at Brentford in our last game, they made the pitch really big which gave us space to move.

"At the moment at home, we need to find that bit of quality which is going to unlock defences."

Neil was disappointed in the manner PNE conceded against Cardiff, their attempts to break up the counter attack failing miserably.

Kieffer Moore was allowed to drive through the middle of the pitch and play in Ojo on the overlap.

"We defended the transition poorly, we tried to dive in, got on the wrong side and they rolled us," said Neil.

"We should have stayed on our feet and we didn't get to the ball quick enough.

"The first goal was always going to be vital.

"We got an opportunity late on which unfortunately we didn't take - that is the difference in the match.

"I didn't think Cardiff were far better than us in the game."
