Sean Maguire hailed an "unbelievable" return to action after firing Preston to a Gentry Day win over Bolton.
MATCH REPORT: Bolton 1-3 PNE
The striker scored twice in the 3-1 win after coming off the bench after four months out with a serious hamstring injury.
His blistering 25 minutes on the pitch completed a fine comeback for Alex Neil's side, Tom Barkhuizen having cancelled out Marc Beevers' first-half opener early in the second period.
Maguire then struck in the 77th and 92nd minutes to get North End back to winning ways in the Championship.
"I probably would have taken just coming on today and getting a feel for a match-day again," he said.
"But to come on and get a brace and win the game is massive for us and gives us real momentum going into next week.
"Personally it's been a really tough four months mentally.
"(Physio) Matt Jackson's been unbelievable with me, he has to take a lot of credit for getting me back this strong and this fit 16 weeks after I did my hamstring.
"To grab two goals to give the team three points is unbelievable."
