Result at the Canaries is a big positive for Preston: Supporter John Smith has his say on the draw with Norwich

Before the game against a Norwich side newly relegated from the Premier League, most pundits would have predicted a home win.

However, we proved that on our day we can match anybody in the division and turned in a spirited performance which, with a bit of luck, could have given us all three points.

Given that Norwich’s reserve side destroyed us a few months back in the FA Cup, a point must be seen as a big positive and maybe things might not be as bleak as they appeared to be following our opening day home defeat.

We began the game brightly and Scott Sinclair’s penalty gave us a deserved lead until we got pegged back just after the half hour mark.

Goals from full back Darnell Fisher have been rare to say the least but shortly before the break he volleyed in his first goal in North End colours since signing over three years ago.

It’s a pity a late goal denied us of a morale-boosting victory but a point at Carrow Road is still a very good result.

Many Championship games are decided by fine margins and had Declan Rudd not made a fine save at the death our workmanlike performance would have counted for nothing.

Once again both our goals were not scored by one of our strikers and the search in that direction must continue.

However ,in my opinion it is no good signing a striker who is no better than Jayden Stockley just for the sake of it and most strikers in that category fall way above our transfer and wage budget.

One thing I do find ironic is that while we are still looking for more firepower Tyrhys Dolan – a youth player we released in the summer – was scoring for Blackburn on Saturday.

Personally, I find the loss of such a talented and promising player hard to understand as his wage would not have broken our budget.

With the big four of Daniel Johnson, Ben Davies,Ben Pearson and Alan Browne currently only on contract until next summer this season looks like being one of change for North End with good recruitment being vital if we are to continue to be an established side in this division.
