Two first half goals from Ivan Toney left Alex Neil’s men with it all to do in the second 45, despite not playing poorly.

PNE took the game to the Bees after the break, with Sinclair scoring twice, Brad Potts putting them into the lead and Sean Maguire giving them breathing room.

Sinclair was on hand to finish when Patrick Bauer headed down in the area for him and Andrew Hughes’ low cross was collected well by the winger who made no mistake to double his tally on the day.

Despite being behind at the break, there was no panic from the PNE squad.

Sinclair said: “We came in the dressing room at 2-0 but each and every one of us thought we’d played well.

“The difference is that they’d had two chances and scored two goals.

“It was great to see the character of the boys and everyone in the squad to bounce back and get the win.

“The only thing that was wrong was the mistakes.

“We went back out there and had to step it up, make sure we created chances and score goals.

“Every time I’m on that pitch I want to score goals, I’m trying to be a threat, I’m trying to create and that’s what the manager wants from me.

“As a squad and as a team we’re just as good as these teams. We’ve shown it on a couple of occasions this season. At this moment in time we need to just keep bouncing on and keep picking up results like today and show everyone that we are a good side.”

There was a debut off the bench for new Danish striker Emil Riis who was brought into Deepdale on Friday.

The 22-year-old hasn’t had much time with his teammates but Sinclair is confident he can have an impact as the season wears on.

He also felt it was important to go inot the international break with lingering confidence.

“He’s only had one session and once he settles in I’m sure he’ll help us along the way with the goals and performances that we need,” he said.

“It was really important to get the three points and the win today, to go into the break feeling good, ready to come back all fresh.”
