Preston North End's Darnell Fisher hit by FA charge following Sheffield Wednesday clash

Preston North End right-back Darnell Fisher has been charged by the FA following an incident during Saturday's 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday.

Footage from the game showed Fisher grab at the genital area of Wednesday's Callum Paterson while they waited for a corner to the be taken.

A statement from the FA relased at 5pm on Monday said: "Preston North End FC’s Darnell Fisher has been charged following an EFL Championship fixture against Sheffield Wednesday FC on Saturday [21/11/20].

"It is alleged that an incident during the 62nd minute of the fixture, which was not seen by the match officials at the time but caught on camera, constitutes a breach of FA Rule E3.

"The defender has until tomorrow [24/11/20] to provide a response to the charge."

PNE responded with a statement of their own following the FA charge.

It read: "Preston North End have been contacted by the FA regarding a charge against Darnell Fisher following Saturday’s Championship fixture against Sheffield Wednesday.

"It is alleged that an incident during the 62nd minute of the fixture, which was not seen by the match officials at the time but caught on camera, constitutes a breach of FA Rule E3.

"The club acknowledges the charge and will respond before 6pm on Tuesday 24th November as requested by the FA."
