The result leaves Preston in 16th place in the table, now a solid 13 points clear of the relegation zone with six matches to go - although Rotherham United's four games in hand over some teams, including the Lilywhites, does complicate things somewhat.
Speaking after the big win, Preston's interim head coach Frankie McAvoy revealed: "I'm just delighted for the players, it was the least they deserved if I'm being honest. In the first half in particular they played really well.
“We tried last week, we worked on our diamond midfield against Norwich which probably allowed Norwich too many chances and opportunities when they had the ball, a small change today I thought we'd go with the 3-5-2.
