The fact he isn't a stranger to Championship football was an obvious attraction to North End.

Brighton opted not to loan him out again in the first-half of this season, instead involving him in their first-team squad.

That said, opportunities have been limited for him, with two starts in the Carabao Cup against Portsmouth and Manchester United, together with a late run as a substitute in Albion's 2-1 win in the Premier League at Aston Villa.

All five of this senior international caps have come this season, with him a team-mate of Alan Browne and Sean Maguire in the Irish set-up.

Millwall are thought to have bid a club record £1.5m fee to try and sign Molumby in the last couple of days but Brighton didn't want a sale.

They would rather see him go on loan and develop his game while remaining on their books.

Molumby played for Millwall in their 1-0 win over North End at Deepdale in February.
