A forgotten man at Preston North End, the 26-year-old scored the second in a 2-0 win over Roda JC in the Jupiler League, the second tier of Dutch football.

It was Vermijl’s first goal since scoring in the Lilywhites’ 4-1 defeat at home to Leeds on Boxing Day 2016.

At the weekend, the attacking full back got on the end of Joeri Schroijen’s corner with a back-post header in the 63rd minute in a game where both sides finished with 10 men after a brawl.

In total Vermijl has made nine appearances in Holland, eight of those starts and one off the bench, since his move on a season-long loan on deadline day in August.

MVV are currently 12th in the table.

The Belgian has not played for PNE since coming on as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat at Ipswich in November 2017.

Not a part of Alex Neil’s plans, he finished last season on loan at Scunthorpe before his move abroad with his North End contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.
