Preston North End ready to face old boy Callum Robinson when they tackle West Bromwich Albion

The Lilywhites sold Robinson to Sheffield United in July for a fee in the region of £7m.

It gave him the chance to sample Premier League football but after just six months he was on the move to Albion in search of a regular game.

Chances had dried up at the Blades and he jumped at the chance of a loan switch to The Hawthorns.

Robinson has scored in his last two games for the Baggies – in a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest and Saturday’s 3-0 win at Bristol City.

PNE manager Alex Neil said: “Callum will be happy with this move.

“All he wants to do is play and score goals – he’s been doing both.

“There is nothing better than being at a team which is top of the league because everywhere you go you feel you are going to win and get chances to score.

“He will be delighted with how he has started.”

Robinson started nine Premier League game for Sheffield United and came off the bench a further seven times. He also started three cup games.

He scored twice for the Blades, in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and when they beat AFC Fylde in the FA Cup.

North End will be facing an Albion side four points clear at the top of the Championship and on a run of good form.

Slaven Bilic’s men have won four and drawn one of their last five matches.

Their away form is stronger than that at home – in front of The Hawthorns faithful they have won seven and drawn the same amount.
