There is no room though, in the initial 25-man squad for Browne's PNE team-mate Sean Maguire.

It's a busy schedule for the Irish, with three games instead of the usual two in the break.

They play Slovakia in a Euro qualifier semi-final in Bratislava on October 8, before facing Wales and Finland in Nations League fixtures.

Preston midfielder Alan Browne

Browne, who is the final year of his contract at North End and showing no signs of agreeing a new one, has worn the skipper's armband this season when Paul Gallagher hasn't been in the side.

Maguire was not named in the last Republic squad for the September internationals but earned a late call-up.
