North End loaned Walker to Carlisle at the start of the campaign, with him joining for the season.

They want him to get a run of games in the absence of an Under-23s side at Deepdale, in order to get experience under his belt.

Walker has been getting games, coming on as a sub for Carlisle’s first two matches and then starting the last three –although he only lasted 26 minutes at Sunderland.

Preston-born Walker came through PNE’s academy and made his first-team debut at the age of 16 against Aston Villa in December 2018.

In doing so, he became the youngest player to appear in a league game for Preston.

He was the only one of last season’s second-year scholars to be offered a pro deal.

Walker is one of five North End players out on loan.
