Preston North End will face Brighton and Hove Albion in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Deepdale next week - with the winners facing Manchester United or Luton Town.

The Seagulls beat Portsmouth 4-0 at the Amex Stadium on Thursday night in the last of the second round ties played.

If North End can find a way past Premier League Albion, they will have a home date with either Luton Town or Manchester United in the fourth round.

So the incentive is certainly there to try and get past Graham Potter's side next week.

PNE reached the third round after a 2-1 win over Derby County on Tuesday night, Tom Barkhuizen and Daniel Johnson on target.
