Preston North End eye swoop for ex-Swansea City winger, Millwall receive boost in defender chase

Preston North End were involved in dramatic late scenes for the second match on the bounce earlier in the week, as they were gifted a 1-0 away win to Swansea City thanks to Matt Grimes' stoppage time own-goal - a result which saw his side lose their fourth game in a row.

The result leaves Preston sitting in 16th place in the table, now a comfortable 13 points clear of the relegation zone with six matches to go - although it's worth noting that Rotherham United having four games in hand over some teams, including the Lilywhites, does complicate things a little.

Speaking after the crucial win, Preston's interim head coach Frankie McAvoy revealed that he's looking to present a slighlty calmer persona on the touchline in future fixtures, and claimed: “That is something where I need get a wee bit more composure. I tried to be calmer in the Norwich game and I felt it was a bit of a learning curve.

“I do need to calm down at times, not get as involved as I was doing. When you’re down there on the touchline you just want the best for your side and want them to win.”

Preston return to action this weekend, when they round off a trio of matches against teams pushing for promotion with a clash against Thomas Frank's Brentford - who are without a win in four games - at Deepdale.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Preston North End and the rest of the Championship, as the build-up to the action to this weekend's action continues:
