Spurr and his wife Chloe are needed by both of their children, as they have another son Rudy who is younger than Rio.
It has made their financial situation increasingly difficult and they are now asking for help to be able to fund themselves through this difficult period for the family.
The football world has already come together to support former Blackburn Rovers, Doncaster Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday, Fleetwood Town and PNE man Tommy, with ex teammates Jordan Hugill and Ben Pearson both donating to his Go Fund Me page.
