Rovers were two up inside 15 minutes thanks to goals from Sam Gallagher and John Buckley before Alan Browne pulled one back for PNE.
Blackburn extended their lead before half time and rounded off the scoring just seven minutes into the second half with Lewis Travis netting the fourth.

All over the place which is surprising given how consistent he has been all season. Was caught out positionally at centre half and at left back. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley

The only North End player that could be deemed as anything close to just average on the night, was made to look better by his teammates but gave his all, made decent runs and was generally on with his defensive duties. Photo: CameraSport - Dave Howarth

Probably his worst game in a North End shirt and, like Hughes, he is generally Mr Reliable. Was off the pace, late in closing down and not able to keep possession. Lost his head a little towards the end and may have been lucky to survive. Photo: CameraSport - Rich Linley

A passenger in the midfield as North End were outclassed in the middle of the park, second to too many and wasteful in possession. Photo: CameraSport - Mick Walker
