PNE's Chaplow chuffed with monthly award

Preston North End's Richard Chaplow was feeling just champion today after being voted the Championship's Powerade Player of the Month.

The 23-year-old midfielder took the award for helping Preston to their best start for years, scoring important goals against Sheffield Wednesday and Crystal Palace.

After being presented with his trophy at North End's Springfields training ground,

Chaplow said: "Only last week the manager was up for an award and now this.

"But whoever is getting the awards it only means that we are doing well as a team.

"I am really chuffed. When I found I was on the shortlist of four it was nice enough to be nominated.

"But to win it is really pleasing."

Carlisle striker Danny Graham won the League One award and Solomon Taiwo of Dagenham and Redbridge took the prize in League Two.
