Preston North End have been linked with Exeter City striker Jayden Stockley.

Sky Sports ran a report saying their sources understood that PNE and Ipswich Town were both interested in the frontman who scored 25 goals last season.

However, North End have knocked back the speculation and say he is not a target.

Stockley, 24, started his career at Bournemouth and had eight loan spells during his time there - including at Exeter.

He joined Aberdeen on a free transfer in June 2016 before returning south to join Exeter last summer, the Grecians paying a club record fee for him.

North End did business with Exeter earlier in the summer, buying centre-half Jordan Storey from the Devon outfit.
