Preston North End returned to winning ways in the Championship with a thumping victory over Wigan Athletic at Deepdale.

Here are the PNE player ratings, with Lukas Nmecha taking star billing for a powerful display up front.

Chris Maxwell 7
Made a good diving save from Reece James with the game at 1-0. Clean sheet will be a big confidence boost for the keeper.

Darnell Fisher 7
Improved display from recent weeks and had the measure of Michael Jacobs and Antonee Robinson down that side.

Tom Clarke 7
Back in the team after two games on the bench and helped PNE stay solid as they recorded a welcome clean sheet.

Jordan Storey 8
Calm and measured performance from the young defender. Extinguished any threat from Will Grigg and later Joe Garner.

Andrew Hughes 7
Set up the chance from which Browne rattled the bar. Kept things simple with his clearing, still work to do on positioning.

Ben Pearson 7
Ratted well in midfield and got the ball when he could to push PNE on. Got booked for the foul on Powell which means a one game ban.

Daniel Johnson 8
His use of the ball was very good, DJ following up his man-of-the-match display at Aston Villa with another strong performance.

Tom Barkhuizen 7
Good finish for the opening goal which will lift his confidence, while it was his cross which led to PNE’s second goal.

Alan Browne 7
Claimed an assist for the first goal and later hit the bar. Not as big an influence on the game as normal but put in his usual shift.

Callum Robinson 8
Two more goals, this time coming from the left side of the attack. Has emerged as a key player for North End this season.

Lukas Nmecha 8

Starman. Excellent afternoon leading PNE’s attack, with the teenager displaying power and pace. Deserved a goal for his efforts.

Subs used:
Paul Gallagher 7
Came off the bench to score for the second game running, this time netting a penalty.

Sean Maguire 7
His first slice of action of the season after injury and created the fourth goal.

Ben Davies 6
A late sub for Nmecha as North End ran down the clock.
