Preston North End are remaining tight-lipped over allegations that new manager Graham Westley dropped players from his team through a late-night text message.

The club were unable to comment on national newspaper reports that the boss sent a 2am text detailing team news, tactics and motivational talk ahead of last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to Leyton Orient.

He dropped full-back David Gray, midfielders Barry Nicholson and Adam Barton and young striker Harry Bunn, who is on loan from Premier League Manchester City, for the game.

It is understood the text was sent to all players in the North End squad.
