Lukas Nmecha insists he has scored his first Preston North End goal after claiming the Lilywhites’ equaliser in their draw with Aston Villa.

The Manchester City loanee converged on Daniel Johnson’s cross with Ahmed Elmohamady, the Villa defender also getting a touch as he slid in to make a clearance.

While there continues to be plenty of debate about who should be credited with the 61st-minute strike, Nmecha is in no doubt.

“Of course I’m claiming it,” said the 20-year-old, speaking to the press after the 1-1 draw at Deepdale.

“I’ve touched and then defender has slid in.

“After I’ve touched it, I don’t really know what’s happened.

“It’s ricocheted and gone in the net. I definitely got the touch so it better be mine!"
