PNE are currently in 10th on 47 points but what might they need over the final 12 games to make sixth spot or better? Below we take a look at what was required over the last 10 seasons.

Victory over QPR saw PNE make the play-offs by a single goal ahead of Cardiff as both teams finished on 74 points. North End lost out to Sheffield United in the semi-finals

Nottingham Forest made the end of season shoot-out on 75 points but lost out to Swansea in the semi-finals, the Swans promoted at Wembley with a win over Reading
Blackpool were fifth and Cardiff sixth, both on 75 points. The latter lost to West Ham in the play-off semi-finals with the Hammers then seeing off Blackpool at Wembley
Leicesters final-day 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest got them in the play-offs on 68 points, the lowest needed over the last 10 years. Watford in the semi-finals proved a step too far
Brighton made the play-offs in sixth place on 72 points but were no match for Derby in the play-offs, the Rams winning 6-2 on aggregate before losing to QPR in the final.
Brentford and Mick McCarthy's Ipswich finished fifth and six respectively, both on 78 points, with Wolves dramatically missing out on the same number. Derby were eighth on 77
Sheffield Wednesday finished sixth on 74 points with a five-point cushion to seventh-placed Ipswich. The Owls beat Brighton over two legs but then lost to Hull at Wembley
Fulham took the final spot on 80 points, the highest number of the last 10 years but five clear of seventh in the table Leeds. They lost to Reading in the semi-finals
Derby took the final play-off spot on 75 points with PNE of course just two further back as they narrowly missed out, the Rams having won 1-0 at Deepdale at the tail end of the campaign
Across the course of the 10 years, 74 points is the average number needed, just as PNE got so dramatically back in 2009
To reach 74 points, PNE would need 27 from their final 12 matches at 2.25 per game. In simpler terms that's nine wins. Bring it on!
