Preston North End keeper Jordan Pickford has been named in Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s squad to face USA at Deepdale next week.

Southgate has named a 23-man squad to take on USA’s Under-23s’ Olympic hopefuls on Thursday, September 3, before starting their Euro Under-21s qualifying campaign in Norway the following.

There is a familiar face for Deepdale regulars, with goalkeeper Pickford – currently on loan at North End from Sunderland – named in the squad for the first time.

Liverpool pair Jordon Ibe and Joe Gomez are rewarded for their bright start to the new season with their first call-ups.

And Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli is also selected after scoring his first Premier League goal at the weekend.

Manchester United striker James Wilson receives his first Under-21s call-up and Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore has the chance to build on his eye-catching displays for the Under-20s at the Toulon Tournament.

Tickets for the Deepdale friendly are priced £10 for adults and £5 for children, with a family ticket (two adults and two children) costing £20 and group bookings of 15-plus working out at £5 for adults and £1 for children.

Season ticket holders at Deepdale can also claim half-price tickets and concessions for under-18s, over-65s and students (on production of valid ID) are £5. Call 0844 856 1966 for details or e-mail:
