Preston North End have signed Blackburn Rovers defender Tommy Spurr.
The 28-year-old is PNE’s third signing of the summer following the captures of goalkeeper Chris Maxwell and striker Simon Makienok.
Spurr moves to Deepdale on a Bosman having come to the end of his Blackburn contract.
He had been offered a new deal by Rovers to stay at Ewood Park but chose the switch to North End.
After putting pen to paper on a three-year contract, Spurr said: “The manager and his staff made me feel really wanted.
“They told me about the team spirit at the club and what they are trying to do.
“I wanted to be part of that and it feels good to have signed.
“This has been ongoing since the end of last season but with people being away and myself being on holiday, things slowed down a bit.
“Once I got back, everything happened quickly and the move got sorted out.
“I’m excited about the move and looking forward to getting started with the lads on Thursday.”
Leeds-born Spurr started his career with Sheffield Wednesday, working his way through the youth ranks to go on and make more than 200 appearances for the Owls.
From there, he joined Doncaster Rovers for £200,000 in June 2011, before signing for Blackburn three years ago.
Spurr played 84 games for Rovers, the last of those being against North End at Ewood in April.
