For Preston North End, their striker hunt continues – and they only have until 11pm on October 5 if they want to sign from abroad, with MLS forward Jordan Morris, of Seattle Sounders, the latest name in the frame.

Of course, domestic deals can still go through up to October 16, and there's been interest in North End midfielder Daniel Johnson, from Steven Gerrard's Rangers. PNE are still waiting to see if the Ibrox club come back in with an improvement on the bid of £1.5million they lodged last month.

Elsewhere from Glasgow, Celtic may miss out on QPR winger Bright Osayi-Samuel with the player set to be offered a new deal by the Championship club.

Mark Warburton confirmed the Nigerian is in discussions with director of football Les Ferdinand over a new contract, with Celtic having scouted the player ahead of a potential move this window.

Sheffield Wednesday could face competition from League One sides Fleetwood Town and MK Dons if they firm up their interest in Scottish hotshot Ross Stewart.

The Ross County forward is attracting a lot of attention south of the border, but a £1million price tag is likely to deter many suitors as clubs tighten their belts.

The Owls have been busy in the transfer market, while Joey Barton's Fleetwood have also been linked with Stewart.

Rotherham are one of a handful of clubs linked with Liam Miller, the Liverpool Under-23 striker.

The Canadian international, who can also play wide, is also interesting Stoke City, QPR and Millwall.

Rotherham boss Paul Warne is closing in on a signing, with Newcastle midfielder Dan Barlaser on his wishlist. Warne said: "I'm hopeful of getting an incoming this week."

By the time Rotherham host Norwich City on October 17, the Canaries might be without star midfielder Todd Cantwell, with Leeds United still weighing up a £15m bid for the player.

More Premier League interest in Championship stars comes from Manchester United, with further news today that they could swoop for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr. Watch that one run and run until the end of the window.
