North End had been watching van den Berg before Liverpool showed interest in Davies and an agreement was struck to take him for the rest of the campaign.

Liam Lindsay joined on loan from Stoke earlier in the evening, van den Berg now adding to the options Alex Neil has at centre-half.

North End are prepared to help develop him, with Liverpool seeing a spell in the Championship as important for the teenager.
