Preston North End continue to run the rule over former Barnsley defender

Preston North End are continuing to run the rule over defender Bambo Diaby in training.

The 24-year-old has been with the squad at Euxton since November in a bid to earn a contract.

When he started training with PNE, Diaby was in the latter stages of a two-year ban from football after testing positive for higenamine.

That suspension ended earlier this month and he is free to play again.

No decision has been taken yet by North End on Diaby’s future.

On the financial side, it is understood that they would have to free up space on the wage bill should they decide to offer him a contract.

Lilywhites manager Lowe also spoke recently of wanting to see Diaby in a reserve game before any decision is made.

West Brom are unbeaten in seven league games against PNE, winning five and last losing in 2008.

PNE Starting XI: Iversen, Van den Berg, Bauer, Hughes, Whiteman, Potts, Browne, Ledson, Cunningham, Riis, Evans.

Subs: Ripley, Lindsay, Rafferty, McCann, Maguire, Sinclair, Archer.

PNE have made three changes from the 1-0 defeat to Swansea, in come Andrew Hughes, Ryan Ledson and Brad Potts for Tom Barkhuizen, Daniel Johnson and Joe Rafferty.

There are chances tonight for Ryan Ledson and Greg Cunningham, the former gets a chance to step in for Daniel Johnson and make a claim for his spot.

Cunningham has already had a bit of game time at left wing back but gets a little more game time to create a problem for Josh Earl when he returns from injury.
