Late leveller delights PNE boss

Aiden McGeady tucked away a 93rd minute equaliser in front of 6,005 PNE supporters at Ewood Park to earn a point.

Having taken the lead through Tom Barkhuizen early in the contest, North End found themselves pegged back and then behind.

Elliott Bennett pulled Rovers level before half-time, with Craig Conway putting the home side in front 11 minutes into the second half.

After playing second fiddle after falling behind, PNE found a second wind late in the game and after Paul Huntington saw a late header ruled out for offside, McGeady struck right at the death.

Grayson said: "The game had a little bit of everything.

"When you reflect on it, I thought for 25 minutes we were very good, we started the game brightly and kept the ball.

"We passed it nicely, asked questions and got the goal.

"After we scored, we had a couple of opportunities to get that second one.

"Then Blackburn got back into it, moved the ball well and caused us a few problems.

"At half-time, we told them we had to push up the pitch a bit, try and condense the space where Marvin Emnes was causing us a few problems.

"We didn't do that unfortunately and Blackburn got the second goal.

"For a while after that, we were on the back foot but we stood firm and in the last 15-20 minutes we were the better team and trying to get the equaliser.

"Blackburn will feel disappointed to have conceded in the last minute, we will feel like it was a win."

McGeady's goal was his fifth in Preston colours and the closest in of them.

Grayson said: "The equaliser came from some good play, Tom Clarke did ever so well.

"He pulled it back to McGeady who was the one person who you wanted there with the calmness to slot it away.

"For Geads, it was a bit of an infuriating afternoon with things not going for him but to see the ball hit the back of the net in front of our away following was fantastic."
