Whiteman shot pushed away

Whiteman takes aim from around 20 yards out, it bounces just before it reaches Westwood and the Irish stopper shovels the ball away.

Sinclair shot blocked

Sinclair plays Riis down the right channel and the striker’s cross finds the winger whose first time shot it blocked.

Hutchinson fouls Riis, a chance left of centre to most likely cross.

Whiteman tries his luck but it’s comfortably wide.

Molumby’s shot is deflected behind.

Goal Sheffield Wednesday. 1-0.

North End fail to clear a long throw from the right, it’s headed back from the far post and Liam Palmer turns the ball home from six yards.

There has been one minute added on at the end of the half.

Half Time: Sheff Wed 1-0 PNE

North End had a decent half but a sucker punch just before the break sees them go in behind.

PNE had more of the attacking plays, with Whiteman the only player to test the Owls’ keeper.

The hosts took the lead on the stroke of half time, PNE failing to clear a long throw before Liam Palmer slotted home from six yards out.

The North End players have emerged from their changing room, as have their Yorkshire counterparts.

Sheffield Wednesday get the game going, they knock the ball forward and Penney shoots wide.

Whiteman is booked for a foul on Kachunga.
