MEET THE BOSS: Neil Warnock was placed in temporary charge of QPR on Wednesday night after the sacking of Chris Ramsey.

The 66-year-old had been working at Loftus Road in an advisory role. Warnock had a 22-month spell in charge of QPR between March 2010 and January 2012 , leading them to promotion to the Premier League in that time. The London outfit is one of 13 clubs Warnock has managed in his career.

His last full-time job as a manager was at Crystal Palace, a job he lost in December last year.


Rob Lewis from Shropshire is the referee for Preston’s visit to Queens Park Rangers. The last time he took charge of a PNE game was the visit to Bristol City in April 2014 which ended in a 1-1 draw. A former Premier League linesman, this will be Mr Lewis’ 10th game of the season.


On November 5, 1988, Preston beat Mansfield 2-0 at Deepdale. The goals came from Brian Mooney and Mick Rathbone. Mooney’s goal was a bit special, the winger having just returned to the pitch after having stitches in a head wound. Mooney cut in the from the wing and curled a shot into the top corner.


Preston beat Darlington 3-2 at Deepdale on November 6, 1993. On target for John Beck’s men were Gavin Nebbling, Lee Cartwright and Mike Conroy.


Preston were rampant in their derby clash with Burnley on November 17, 1998, winning 4-1 at Deepdale. Mark Rankine, ex-Clarets striker Kurt Nogan, loanee Darren Byfield and David Eyres found the net.
