While PNE were battling it out with the Robins, club owner Trevor Hemmings was at Aintree celebrating his third Grand National winner.

Many Clouds, ridden by Leighton Aspell and trained by Oliver Sherwood, was a 25-1 longshot but won by a length and three-quarters.

Mr Hemmings, 79, had previously won the National with Ballabriggs (2011) and Hedgehunter (2005).

“This race captured my heart and it is such a lovely feeling to win it again,” he said.

“Now the third one comes along, I just can’t believe it. It’s an amazing feeling.”
