On this day: When Preston North End dared to dream against Arsenal in the FA Cup
PNE hosted the Premier League giants at Deepdale in a third round clash in front of the Sky Sports cameras on January 4, 1999.
They could not have started any better in front of a sell-out 21,099 crowd as Kurt Nogan struck twice in a four-minute spell during the first half to give the Lilywhites a 2-0 win.

Hide AdNogan fired them in front in the 17th minute after David Eyres had kept the ball in play on the byline and laid it back to him.
The celebrations saw Nogan and Eyres pile on top of PNE mascot Deepdale Duck.
Things got even better in the 21st minute when Eyres' corner from the right travelled all the way to the far post where Nogan headed home.
The two-goal cushion remained in tact until the stroke of half time when Gunners striker Luis Boa Morte swept home a shot on the turn.

Hide AdIt brought the visitors back into the game but the decisive moment of the game came in the 58th minute when Eyres tripped Marc Overmars as he drove towards the PNE box.
Eyres was shown the red card by referee Dermot Gallagher, with France international Emmanuel Petit curling the resulting free-kick over the wall and into the net.
Petit put Arsenal 3-2 ahead in the 79th minute, that goal shrouded in controversy.
North End defender Ryan Kid was elbowed in the face by Arsenal sub Fabian Caballero in the build-up - that not seen by the referee - and Kidd was on the ground injured next right next to where Petit scored from.
