Ben Davies’ injury to be assessed ahead of Preston North End’s trip to Birmingham

Ben Davies missing Preston’s draw with Middlesbrough was a “precaution” according to boss Alex Neil.

The defender’s hamstring niggle will be assessed ahead of the trip to Birmingham on Saturday.

“Ben Davies had a bit of irritation in his hamstring,” said Neil at Thursday morning's pre-match press conference at Springfields.

“It’s not anything to be concerned about, we've had it scanned. It was more of a precaution than anything else on Tuesday.

“We'll see how he is over today and tomorrow and then we can make a decision on him for Saturday."

Elsewhere, Neil reported no fresh injury worries after the 1-1 draw with Boro at Deepdale on Tuesday night.

"I think no news is good news for us," he said.

"We're relying on a few players to churn out games at the moment and there will be a few bumps and bruises but we don't think there's anything significant."
