LIVE: Middlesbrough vs PNE

Last updated: Tuesday, 16 March, 2021, 20:14

  • PNE travel to the Riverside in the Championship, kick off at 7pm.
  • PNE Starting XI: Iversen, van den Berg, Storey, Lindsay, Hughes, Gallagher, Browne, Barkhuizen, Potts, Sinclair, Evans.
  • North End will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Wycombe at the weekend.
  • Middlesbrough will be looking to keep their play-off ambitions alive.

Goal Middlesbrough. 1-0.

Bolasie’s cross is turned into his own net by Jordan Storey attempting to clear it.

Potts goes forward down the right but his low cross is cleared behind.

It’s in but it won’t count!

Gallagher’s cross is headed at goal by Storey and Bettinelli could only palm it where Sinclair pounced but he was flagged offside.

Despite going behind, PNE have been the better side so far and have looked to play some nice stuff.

Brad Potts has been particularly busy and Andrew Hughes has been a good outlet down the left.

Alan Browne is sent off after an incident off the ball.

Evans gives the ball away in his own half and Kebano takes it on before shooting wide on his left foot.

Half Time: Middlesbrough 1-0 PNE

Despite a good half from PNE, they have it all to do whilst being a man down.

Although they had much of the going in the first period of the game, Boro took the lead through Bolasie’s cross which was sliced into his own net by Jordan Storey.

Not long before the interval, Alan Browne saw red after a coming together with Sam Morsy that saw the PNE skipper get an early bath and the Egyptian come away with nothing.

Alex Neil has been sent off at half time after protesting to the referees at half time.

Quiet one so far...

Jayson Molumby comes on for Scott Sinclair.

Boro get the second half underway!

Sam Morsy is replaced by James Tavernier.

Daniel Iversen pulls off a sensational save from point blank range to deny McNair’s header!

Goal Middlesbrough. 2-0.

Tavernier heads the ball into the net on the rebound.

McNair came forward down the right, it was squared into the centre and Akpom crashed his shot against the bar before Tavernier was on the spot to head home.

Tom Barkhuizen and Paul Gallagher make way for Daniel Johnson and Emil Riis.
