Preston North End head to Leeds in the second round of the League Cup after going down 2-0 at both Norwich and Derby in the league.
The Lilywhites will hope to put their stuttering start behind them and knock off the early leaders at Elland Road.
“I’ve been talking to some of the lads and said it’s a case of you don’t get too high when you win and you don’t get too low when you lose,” said Neil.
“If we were playing really poorly every week and getting battered every week I’d have real concerns.
“But anyone who has seen our games will know that’s not the case.
“We’ve been in every game and we just need to turn those good performances into victories and once we do that things will pick up and it will be all go.”
Neil is set to make a host of changes against Leeds but is set to be without Alan Browne, hamstring and Tom Clarke, groin.
Paul Gallagher serves the final game of his three-match ban.
