Alex Neil knows Preston North End let two points slip away after Bolton hit back to draw 2-2 at Deepdale.
The Lilywhites were in command when goals from Callum Robinson and Alan Browne saw them race into a two-goal lead inside 16 minutes.
But Wanderers were level before the interval, Sammy Ameobi on target on 38 minutes before Pawel Olkowski equalised less than two minutes later.
Ben Pearson was then sent off when both teams clashed after the final whistle.
Neil said: "From our point of view we are frustrated.
"At home when you are leading 2-0 realistically you are expected to go on and win the three points.
"We went 2-0 up and actually had a chance to make it 3-0, Brandon Barker breaks and cuts on to his right foot and they make a block.
"Within 30 seconds we have made an error at the back and the ball ends-up in the back of the net.
"From that point it knocked us and you could see the lift it gave Bolton.
"From that goal to half-time, Bolton looked the team more likely to score - they did with a good finish from the edge of the box.
"The momentum of the game was in their favour so I felt I had to try and change it.
"We brought on a couple of subs and I was hoping it would make us a bit more solid but we would still have a threat, but being honest the second half petered out for both sides."
