The striker missed the 3-2 win over Millwall at Deepdale with a nerve problem in his hamstring but having bagged the winner at Nottingham Forest, Moult should be available again sooner rather than later.

Ben Pearson was back in the side against the Lions after missing the City Ground victory with a thigh injury.

“Louis isn’t a bad one,” said Neil, who had 16-year-old Ethan Walker on the bench due to his lengthy injury list.

“He just tweaked his hamstring on Tuesday but it’s more nerve damage than anything.

“He should be fit for next Saturday.

“He trained on Friday hoping that he would be alright for this one but when he tried to run it wasn’t quite right.

“Like we did with Ben Pearson last week, if there are precautions to be taken, we need to do that because we can’t afford any more long-term injuries."
