Eddie Nolan signed from Blackburn Rovers in January 2009 after impressing in an initial three-month loan spell.

The young full-back has since been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad while at North End and has also captained their U21s squad.

He was thrown straight into the thick of things at Deepdale with matches against Birmingham (who went on to be promoted) and Premier League giants Liverpool among his first challenges.

Nolan plays his football with North End at left-back after taking the opportunity with both hands when he filled in for the injured Callum Davidson towards the end of last season.

March update: The defender has linked up with his former boss Alan Irvine at Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season. He played against North End for the Owls in the 2-2 draw at Deepdale in March.
