PNE's Browne gets Republic of Ireland call-up

Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne has been called-up to the senior Republic of Ireland squad for the first time.

Browne, 22, will join the squad this week for the forthcoming internationals against Mexico, Uruguay and Austria.

The former Cork City man has played for the ROI at Under-21 and Under-19 level.

Some of the Ireland squad, mainly those from Championship clubs, are meeting at Fota Island this week for training before travelling to New York where they will play Mexico in a friendly on June 1.

They return to Dublin to play Uruguay on June 4, then take on Austria at the Aviva Stadium in a World Cup qualifier on June 11.
