Darnell Fisher 8

Strong performance at right-back from the recent signing, put his body in where it hurts a few times.

Paul Huntington 8

In the main, helped to restrict the threat of Wood and won more battles than he lost. A towering display in the air.

Tommy Spurr 8

Beginning to look at home in the centre of defence, this an assured performance next to Huntington.

Greg Cunningham 8

Had a tricky customer in Alioski to keep quiet and did just that. Got forward well and had the ball in the net only to see it disallowed.

Ben Pearson 5

Blotted his copybook with the red card and while PNE fans love his combative play, he has to learn to curb the aggressive play.

Daniel Johnson 7

Was always willing to try and keep the ball moving. Did his fair share of defensive duties when Preston went down to 10 men.

Callum Robinson 7

Played on the right of PNE’s attack and showed some good touches, although needs to polish up his shooting boots.

Alan Browne 8

Was the most advanced of the midfield trio and worked hard. With better finishing, could have been twice on the scoresheet.

Tom Barkhuizen 6

Took him a while to get into the game and he did not look as comfortable starting on the left as he does on the right.

Jordan Hugill 8

He will have slept well on Saturday night having worked his socks off, ploughing a lone furrow up front after Pearson’s red card.

Subs used:

Josh Harrop 7

Replaced Barkhuizen for his Preston debut in the 65th minute and almost snatched a winner in stoppage-time when he hit the bar.

Paul Gallagher 6

A late substitute, coming on for the cramped-up Browne in the 90th minute. Experienced head for the closing moments.

Subs not used:

Marnick Vermijl, Daryl Horgan, Ben Davies, Sean Maguire, Mat Hudson

LEEDS UNITED: Wiedwald, Ayling, Jansson, Cooper, Borthwick-Jackson (Dallas 82), Phillips (Vieira 61), O’Kane, Alioski, Hernandez, Roofe (Saiz 61), Wood. Subs (not used): Anita, Shaughnessey, Ekuban, Peacock-Farrell.
