PNE in Numbers: Not much to split McGeady and Pearson

For many, it was tough to split Aiden McGeady and Ben Pearson when it came to deciding on PNE's star man this season.

Both have impressed for the Lilywhites in different ways with McGeady picking up the main prize at North End’s awards and Pearson named young player of the year.

In a quirk of the numbers both have played the exact same number of minutes for Simon Grayson’s side this season.

The pair each spent 2,864 minutes on the park in the total.

Former Manchester United youngster Pearson, who made 34 appearances in the middle park, impressed with his industry and endeavour.

The one issue he will need to iron out is the 16 bookings, nearly one every two games, that meant he missed six games through suspension.

He also picked up the same number of man of the match awards in the pages of this newspaper as McGeady (below), both being named star man on nine occasions.

The Ireland star finished with eight goals from his 38 appearances, eight yellow cards showing the former Celtic and Spartak Moscow man knows how to put himself about.

Elsewhere, a word for captain Tom Clarke, who finished top when it comes to minutes played this season with 3,956, despite missing the final few games.

A poll on our website ahead of the Wolves game on the final day saw 64 per cent of those who took part say the wholehearted skipper was PNE’s unsung hero this season.
