Lilywhites boss Simon Grayson reported that all had come back in good shape after the summer break and got through the sessions well.

On Tuesday, the squad were joined by Ben Pringle and Callum Robinson who signed for PNE on Monday afternoon.

They are among seven summer signings, Tommy Spurr, Chris Maxwell, Simon Makienok, Anders Lindegaard and Eoin Doyle the others.

Liam Grimshaw has been enjoying his first set of sessions, knee surgery in January having delayed the midfielder’s involvement since arriving from Manchestter United.

Grayson said: “It reaches a point in the summer break when you are itching to get back to work.

“The players are refreshed and happy to be back and our target is to have another successful season.

“Our new lads have quickly been made welcome – a feature of our squad is that players settle quickly.”

PNE play their first friendly at Bamber Bridge on Friday (7pm), then go to Chorley on Saturday.
