Preston North End fans queued early outside Deepdale on Thursday morning to ensure they could get their hands on tickets for the FA Cup clash with Manchester United.

The Lilywhites have made 7,000 tickets available for Saturday’s home League One game with Coventry City and anyone registered before January 1 on the club’s database who buy those will be guaranteed a ticket for the February 16 meeting against United.

Ambassadors, season ticket holders and the 960 fans who pre-purchased a ticket for the replay at Sheffield United are guaranteed a seat for the United game.

North End expect the visit of Louis van Gaal’s side to be a sell-out.

Seats for the United game itself go on sale on Monday morning to ambassadors, season ticket holders and those with a replay ticket.

Those who have bought a Coventry ticket get their chance to purchase for United next Wednesday and Thursday.

Any remaining tickets go on general sale next Friday (February 13).

PNE beat Sheffield United 3-1 on Tuesday night to set up the United game – the first competitive meeting between the sides for 43 years – with Paul Gallagher (2) and Paul Huntington on target.

They still have two league games before facing the Red Devils, with Coventry’s visit to Deepdale followed by next Tuesday night’s away match at Chesterfield.
