John Dreyer will take charge of Preston North End’s game against League One leaders Bournemouth at Deepdale on Saturday.
The 49-year-old, who was assistant to Graham Westley, has agreed to take temporary charge of the side until a permanent replacement for Westley is found.
But first-team coach Dino Maamria has left North End.
Dreyer met with PNE officials at Deepdale on Thursday morning, and later took training at Springfields.
North End hope to appoint a new manager in time for the away game at Swindon Town a week on Saturday.
They sacked Westley on Wednesday morning after a run of just one win in 14 league games.
Simon Grayson and Owen Coyle are two of the names being linked with the Preston vacancy.
